Winter Vashon 2026

The annual Southern Sound Series kicks off with the winter Vashon Island Race on December 5, 2026.  The Southern Sound Series is a series of four sailing races, hosted over consecutive months by different yacht clubs.  

The Vashon Island Race is hosted by the Tacoma Yacht Club and is a clockwise race around Vashon Island, starting at the south end of the island.

Overnight moorage is limited and is best used for vessels traveling greater distances so please do not request moorage if your home port is nearby.  
 
If you are arriving on Friday use Channel 72 to hail "Race Committee" between 12 and 6 PM before entering the marina. Do not expect electricity. Be certain to have adequate fenders and mooring lines at-the-ready.

All participants and volunteers are invited to the Tacoma Yacht Club on the Friday before the race at 5:30 P.M. for a no-host social followed by dinner at 6:00 P.M.  Cost TBD 

All participants and volunteers are also invited to a breakfast at the Tacoma Yacht Club on Saturday morning from  7:30 – 8:30 A.M.  Cost is TBD
 
Payments for dinner and breakfast can be made by credit card or check, beginning Friday, starting at 5:00 P.M. at the TYC Clubhouse OR pre-pay through Regatta Network.  Please indicate how many crew you are paying for.  Skippers are to keep track of meal assignments for their crew.
