The 2010 Daffodil Marine Regatta will be held at the Tacoma Yacht Club on April 16, 17, and 18. The theme for this year’s event is “Carousel of Spring” There will be a Decorated Boat Parade for all local yacht clubs who desire to participate. Our community leaders and all the public that enjoys this great annual waterfront event will judge the Parade. We look forward to fun and festivities with a mix of decorated flag boats, floats, and specialty craft in the parade, running from TYC, into the Thea Foss Waterway and Downtown Tacoma, and then returning to TYC for a concluding awards ceremony. Event information and online registration forms for clubs, individual vessels, and RV's are now available. |
The rules and entry form for February 21 Gov Teats Race have are now available.
Shipmates are gathering up to 5 recipes from all TYC members, both male and female, for a new cookbook that will be published this summer. You can download the form online and email it in for submission. Deadline for submitting recipes is April 7th.
Members can now add locations such as marinas or anchorages to the TYC site. Once a location has been added, all members can add photos and comments to the location web page, and include the location in their boat's float plan. Get started by clicking the new "Locations" tab on the left menu.

The 2009 edition of the Holiday Cruise for People with Disabilities (formerly known by the now-politically-incorrect title “Special Peoples Cruise") was a huge success again this year. A dozen TYC boats took part, along with boats from Day Island YC, Totem YC, and a few independents, treating over 200 physically- and developmentally-challenged people to an hour-long boat trip.

Preliminary results for TYC's 2009 Winter Vashon Island Race are now available. The race was postponed for about an hour due to fog. The fog lifted and revealed a beautiful sunny day with winds that eventually gusted over 20 knots. Spinnakers were out for most of the race as the wind shifted through the day - first an easterly, as boats eased their way up Colvos, followed by calm where some boats took advantage of the current on the shore of Vashon, followed by a stronger northerly, which became a westerly as the last boats finished in the dark. The race is the first of four races in the Southern Sound Series.
